On August 12 2026, a total solar eclipse occurs in Iceland for the first time since 1954. The path of totality crosses the Westfjords, Snæfellsnes peninsula and the Reykjanes peninsula.
This is the first total eclipse to be visible from Reykjavík since June 17, 1433.
