About

eclipse2026.is

This site is run and edited by Sævar Helgi Bragason, an award winning astronomy communicator. During the day, he is a science educator at the Natural Science Museum of Kópavogur. At night, he shows people stars and the Northern Lights. He also does part time work for the University of Iceland and Leirvogur Magnetic Observatory.

Bragason is a board member of the Icelandic Astronomical Society and member of the European Astronomical Society.

Bragason is an author of best selling books about science for kids and the general public. He has hosted numerous TV and radio programs on science for the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service (RÚV).

An eclipse chaser by heart, Bragason has seen four total solar eclipses and spent 12m 21s in the shadow of the Moon – and wept the whole time.

Along with Gísli Már Árnason, he runs the website Icelandatnight.is, the number one source of space weather and Northern Lights related info for Iceland.
